If you are planning to buy best laptops for AutoCAD and Solidworks than this article will surely help you and also for using 3d modeling software like Rhino, 3ds max etc. Instead of going with a gaming laptop you should choose a workstation laptop having Quadro by Nvidia or Firepro by AMD GPU. Gaming laptops can also be used for CAD work but for more precision and accuracy workstations are best because Quadro and Firepro GPUs are specially designed for 3D modelling and CAD purposes. Talking about the CPU its best to go with latest generation i5,i7 or xeon processor, but do remember that you should go with quad core processor instead of dual core ones. Recommended minimum RAM should be 16GB but if you are going with 8GB workstation than don’t worry it will also do the work but to be future proof 16GB is recommended. Talking about the storage you should go with laptop having Solid State Drive otherwise choose a laptop having good speed mechanical hard drive. So without wasting your time you can take a look at the list below. I have also included gaming laptops in the list that can also be used for Solidworks and CAD. 1. Hey there,

What about the new gigabyte aero 15?
Do you recommend the P50 with a Quadro M1200 or M2200 over a GTX 1060 which is VR ready?
I am about to buy a laptop in this price range and can’t stop to wonder about all the articles saying a Quadro is favourable and the higher specs of the GTX 1060…!

I believe no matter the choice the performances will be outstanding anyway. And according to my own research then the CPU is of more importance than the GPU for ArchiCAD, Revit, Rhino, etc. Only heavy softwares like Lumion or actual rendering softwares that uses GPU power more than CPU will benefit from a power card.

    Anyway, another choice paralysis.

    • Well quadro is more preferable because it offers more precision in CAD and 3d modeling work, a p50 with m2200 is good but if you are not a professional and also play games than get this Gigabyte Aero 14 which is cheaper than Aero 15 with same specs only difference is of screen size //www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Aero-14Wv7-OG4-Notebook-i7-7700HQ/dp/B01MR0RF9K/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=techgrabo0c-20&linkId=b8932be19b1f9e73f4bcd2bf8f550715
